Join Me at Runner’s World Half Marathon!!!

I am so excited that I received a generous invitation from Runner’s World and Fitfluential to run in the inagural Runner’s World Half Marathon and Festival.  I had definitely tossed the idea of running this race around, but had decided that maybe it was a little too far and I would have to take a day off work.  But the invite was too much for me to say no too!  It is an amazing opportunity!

Runner’s World is obviously the premier running magazine and they decided to host a half marathon on their home turf.  This three day festival in Bethlehem, PA features some amazing events.  There will be seminars, live music, clinics, and key note speakers to spark the interest of runners of every level.  Some of the most famous distance runners will be there to meet and greet, like Olympian Shalane Flanagan,Ultra Marathoner Dean Karnazes, and Marathon Legend Bart Yasso!

They are hosting three races over the weekend.  On Saturday there is a 5k and a 10k.  On Sunday there is the half marathon.  You could do one, or like me run the Hat Trick!  The Hat Trick is all three races, totaling 22.4 miles in one weekend!  I say go big or go home! (Plus you will walk away with three medals, a tech tee shirt, and a hat trick hat, so fun!)

Runner’s world was generous enough to offer all Run Run Mom readers a 10% discount off their registration.  Use code BLOGGER11 for the discount.  Please check out this race here!

I totally encourage you all to sign up, it will be an unforgettable weekend!

Hope to see some of you there!  Please keep checking back for training tips and updates!!!

Hello WordPress!

I’m Katie and this is my son Cooper!  We are moving over from Tumblr to WordPress to share out fitness and health goals.

I am a middle school teacher, wife, and mother of a one year old.  After gaining over 80 pounds during pregnancy I found myself at a loss for words when I had the baby and still had over 70 pounds of “baby weight” on my 5”4’ frame.   This was not exactly healthy, fit, or fun.

Almost a year, countless miles, and 95 pounds later, I decided to turn my weight loss journey into a health journey.  It became more important to fit in time for a healthy, balanced lifestyle for my family than to fit into size zero skinny jeans.

I have been chronicling my family’s journey of fitness and health on my website: Run Run Mom.  Here you can my workouts, road race experiences, experiments with new healthy recipes, and doing family time the healthy and happy way!
