I Am A Bad Planner…

For the past 8-12 weeks I have had Runner’s World Hat Trick on my Calender for this weekend.  I took my personal days and planned my lesson plans around it.

Too bad the race is next weekend.

Wow.  I NEVER make mistakes like that.  I just about had a heart attack when I was upstairs packing to leave in the morning and I read a blog post by Miss Zippy talking about her race this weekend and the Runner’s World Half NEXT weekend.  I said to myself “come again?” I check my hotel confirmations (made by Runner’s World) and even though I read them the other day, the dates did not process.  I still wasn’t convinced and I check the Runner’s World website.   I found this:

Wow. Thank god I didn’t get in my car and drive down!

This makes my no grain challenge ALOT harder.  Especially since there is a barbecue and a pasta dinner I have been planning on attending.  I am not sure if I should hold off my 30 day personal Paleo challenge until I come back and just do not grains until after the race…

I hate disrupted schedules.

Advice: What do you think is best (especially for those who did Paleo challenges)  Do you think it is better to stay in a controlled environment for this?

***As punishment for this stupid mistake, I endured this terrible WOD at CrossFit today.

I got in 8  full reps and 4 extra kettle bell swings before time was up!  How many can you get!?!?

  1. Oh my! Good thing you caught that before you got to the hotel! Although it would have made for a funny blog post! ;)

I think it is probably going to be less stressful to wait until after the races/traveling, etc before doing any dietary changes.

  2. Katie, you had me second-guessing myself this whole week after you told me see you on Thursday. Even when you posted this I was still questioning whether I had the dates right. I have checked Runners World website more than once making sure it wasn’t this weekend. :) Didn’t want to miss my fun weekend!

    • Oh my gosh! It was so embarassing to tell work I would actually be there after taking the days off like a month ago and then asking for the days off next week was worth! So dumb!

  3. I did a Whole30 for September and found it was easiest to just not go out to eat or be social for the month :P It’s stinky, but if anyone can do a strict paleo or Whole30 challenge and still maintain an active social life, I give them tons of credit ;)

  4. thank goodness you noticed before heading out!! that would have been awful!

i’d stick with your regular diet until after race weekend…i have gluten, dairy and soy intolerances so i’m always really big on not trying new things in regards to diet before a race!

good luck with the hat trick!!
