Sometimes it is awesome…sometimes it is just plain weird!
Being a blogger sometimes you are treated to amazing perks. For example, meeting cool people, running with Runner’s World, or even getting to be a part of Team Reebok.! Some days you get awesome snacks delivered to your door step like this great case of Chobani that arrived in the mail the other day! (Thanks Chobani!)
We ate a lot of it so far and found Cooper LOVES blueberry. He cried when we finished the container! Add that to the grocery list..
With so many great perks it is easy to forget that sometimes blogging can just be weird. A couple of weeks ago I got a random email from an advertising firm that wanted to send me something secret. They would not divulge what it was and I was pretty skeptical. I initially was going to say no, but then seeing that other FitFluential girls got the same email I decided to accept (but had it sent to my mom’s house).
It definitely was weird, but I had some hope that maybe it would be something cool. About two weeks later, my mom got this package in the mail.
Ok, so it was from Planet Fitness. I figured it could definitely be something cool now that I knew it was from some place legitimate. So I cracked this puppy open and this is what I found.
#POTB. It is a pat on the back kit.
Seriously.
I must have laughed for like 5 minutes at the absurdity of it all. Planet Fitness wants to bring back the “Old Fashioned Pat on the Back.” As I went to toss it in the trash, I realized these foam fingers are PRICELESS.
I brought it to school and every time a student asks “what they get?” for a game or a job well done, I raise the finger and say a “Pat on the Back!” They hate it so much. I predict that finger will be in hundreds of pieces soon.
Anyhow, if anyone goes to Planet Fitness if they get enough #potb hashtags they are going to give you something like cupcakes to negate all the calories you burned. Seems silly but hey marketing is marketing and it has made my classroom just that much more fun!
Question: If any of you are bloggers, what is the weirdest thing that blogging has brought into your life?

this is the first i have seen of the “pat on the back”-pretty smart marketing I must say. You did actually blog about it.
and really funny! look forward to meeting you at the RW 1/2!
True that. I had to do it. So weird. Too bad I go to a gold’s! I cant wait for runners world!!! See you there!
Hilarious! I love blogging! I got a random rubics cube one day… still haven’t quite figured that one out!
haha, yeah…I guess marketing people are super creative. I would never think of those things.
Plus I would rather do 100 burpees than have to complete a rubics cube, I am terrible at them
Hahah!! The pat on the back seriously makes me crack up!! So funny! Have a super happy Tuesday! Spa love!
that marketing is ADORABLE!!
it is pretty clever I have to say, I couldn’t NOT write about it!
hahaha omg I wouldn’t know what to do with that. But pats on the back never hurt
no they really don’t. its like the high five, sometimes awkward, sometimes amazing!
LOL! I love it
Blogging hasnt really brought anything “weird” into my life… there are moments when I realize, I’ve made all these connections that probably wouldn’t have existed if I didnt blog.
Great post and those hands are funny. I immediately thought “high-five” hand.
Since I started blogging I think I multiplied the people I talk to by a million!
It is really fun to meet others with the same passion for fitness and it is also GREAT motivation!
Hi Katie:
Now *I’m* laughing at you laughing at the #POTB kit we sent you. Yup, it’s definitely not something you receive every day. Glad to hear you’re putting those foam fingers to use. Every one can a little pat on the back now and then:)
