Even though it is HOT and HUMIDDDD in Massachusetts today I knew I had to get out to do a quick three miles to warm and loosen up my body for the Falmouth Road Race. Lets just say it went…slow. I was dripping sweat within the first 1/2 mile and began to cramp at mile 2. Crap, not a good sign. As soon as I started I knew it was going to be a lead legs kind of day. But I didn’t know it would go so slow and painful. I figure it is just mild dehydration and being tight from workouts earlier in the week. So I just decided to fuel up on water and do some stretching.
I am guilty as charged of being a non-stretcher. I always WANT to, but I always distract myself away from it. So I set off to research the best stretches for runners and ran into an article from Outside. Four easy poses that are easy for even the tight and inflexible like me. For the site CLICK HERE! It is really good. I don’t need to re-invent the wheel here.
After doing this and drinking a ton of water, I feel better and hydrated and am just planning on going on a nice and healthy run tomorrow. I don’t believe in pushing oneself too hard in the heat/humidity and I have a half next weekend, so I am willing to jog through this bad boy and enjoy the afternoon. This is what I am telling myself right now…we will see how I feel around mile four.

I am such a horrible nonstretcher. Thank you for sharing, I am trying to get better about it.
I love to stretch but as a busy mom of 3 youngins, I often skip! Terrible I know. Love that you got this pic of you doing this.
thats awesome! Thanks for sharing those stretches! im definitely guilty of NEVER stretching either, but this will give me something to work at!!! SPA love
I stretch and roll before and after every run. But I know yoga is really good for runners and I don’t do it.
Thanks for this site! I’m going to try some yoga!
